Piper Keaton
Visual Art Instructor
Piper Keaton is a Visual Arts Instructor with Abiding Worship. She loves helping students discover that art can point us to Christ, build confidence, and become a joyful way to explore the creativity God has given them.
Piper came to know Christ in middle school when friends shared the Gospel with her at a sleepover. Her life was forever changed, and since then she has seen God reveal Himself through relationships, miracles, total strangers, creation, and art. When asked about a passage of Scripture that God is using to shape her recently, she referenced Colossians 1:15–18 because it speaks to the supremacy of Christ over His creation.
Piper serves through her small group at The Summit Church and brings a deep love for Jesus, people, nature, and creativity into her teaching. She loves art because there is no single “right” way to create. She believes that learning the rules of art gives students the freedom to break them in beautiful and unique ways.
As an instructor, Piper hopes to help students grow in confidence, discover their individual gifts, persevere through challenges, and feel encouraged by what they create. Her classes are joyful, structured, challenging, and full of opportunities to learn about art history, artists, color theory, brush techniques, mixed media, and many other forms of art. Students can expect to be stretched, supported, and invited to have fun as they grow.
Piper has a Bachelor of Science in Wilderness Education from Texas A&M University. She is also a National Outdoor Leadership School graduate and has completed training through Aveda Cosmetology School and The Paul Mitchell School. Piper is a self-taught artist, has worked in camping ministry for more than ten years, and currently teaches high school Art 1 and Art 2 at Hope Co-op.
