Hollis Wakefield

Instructor
Piano • Creative Writing

Hollis Wakefield is a Piano and Creative Writing Instructor with Abiding Worship. She loves helping students discover that music and writing can become more than hobbies; they can become ways of praying, worshiping, communicating, and participating in God’s Kingdom.

Hollis gave her life to Christ at age four after hearing the Gospel. Since then, she has walked with Him through beautiful opportunities and deep loss. For Hollis, following Christ means living out her designed purpose: abiding with Him in everything she does.

Hollis serves by leading a Sunday school class for fourth and fifth grade girls, as well as a youth girls’ small group. She loves helping kids grow in a deeper relationship with God.

As an instructor, Hollis hopes her students develop a deep love for their art form, a heart of prayer that leads them to create for God first, and a heart for others that moves them to share their work. Her teaching style is structured and ambitious. She believes students are capable of more than they often realize, and she gives them practical tools, technical instruction, and meaningful projects that help them grow beyond their limits.

Hollis is a graduate of The Author Conservatory and has more than fifteen years of piano experience. She is also an author, speaker, ghostwriter, church small group leader, and former speech and debate coach. Her work has been published in Voices of the Future: Stories of Whimsy and Warriors, and she earned first place in Ouachita Baptist’s 2021 Virtual Piano Competition.
