Drum Instructor

Chris Pretty is a Drum Instructor with Abiding Worship. He loves helping students develop practical drumming skills while also growing as followers of Christ.

Chris surrendered his life to Christ at age fourteen after years of searching for something more. Since then, he has known the joy of Christ’s sufficiency and continues to see the Lord shaping him day by day. He has played drums for more than ten years and is excited to share that experience with young people.

Chris serves on the worship team at The Summit Church Little Rock and also serves as worship director and small group leader for the Young Adults Ministry. His teaching is rooted in the belief that lessons are not only about learning an instrument, but also about helping students grow in maturity, leadership, and worship.

Students in Chris’s lessons can expect to learn the basics of identifying, playing, and listening to drum set pieces. Lessons may include worship music, time signatures, drum grooves, adapting to different styles, and learning how to play well with other musicians. Chris enjoys working with beginners as well as students who already play and want to grow in expression, skill, and musical confidence.

Chris values the responsibility of drumming within a band and believes a drummer can powerfully shape the feel and effectiveness of a song. He encourages students to keep growing, keep listening, and keep approaching their craft with humility and diligence.

Fun Fact
Chris and his wife made an impromptu move to Virginia Beach in 2022 and returned to Arkansas in 2025 — which he considers an extended vacation.
